I have always said that I think he is one of the very best fighters in the sport, and he'll prove that when the other champs at 122 man up. Even though I'm a huge believer in his talents, I do believe he has one of the weakest chins out there, and even one mistake will be extremely costly for him. People don't give him enough credit for clearly fighting out of his weight class. He is tiny and could make 118 with no effort. I hope Donaire feels confident enough to sign after the Marroquin fight.

        I agree

for me , Martinez and Rigondeaux are the best 2 professional boxers in the world today
Donaire has no chance , absolute zero

See that's the problem right there, you're calling him a prospect when he already got a belt around his waist.

The reason why he gets criticized so much is because his nuthuggers claim that more accomplished champions are ducking him.

You just stated that Rigo looks for the perfect counterpunches; Donaire will provide those opportunities and that's just because his punches are wider than Rigo's.

Plus, you already know that Donaire was just naturally bigger than those little guys at '18, at '22 (and I had told my friend this), he wasn't just walking through anyone's punches. It showed on his face in the Vasquez Jr. fight. Rigo looks to be a natural '22, maybe even '26, his punches are concise and he's faster.
didn't montiel outweigh donaire by like a few pounds on fight night? and during the weigh-in against narvaez, donaire weighed 116 1/2 whereas narvaez was 117 or 118.

the thing is donaire has already been tested at the pro level. we know he has a solid chin, we know he can give one hell of a punch, we know he has good countering abilities and speed, and we know he has the stamina and wherewithal to go 12 rounds easy. also i find it extremely laughable that rigo fans can just call donaire overrated..yet donaire just got to sbw earlier this year and if he beats nishioka his resume will already be better than rigo's at sbw.

His fighting experience (I know, some people don't count amateurs, but why not?) suggests that he's championship-material, but his level of opposition leaves a little to be desired. If you don't take into account his age, then his resume is very good since he has little pro experience. His talent is readily apparent in any fight he's in, but I wish he would show a sense of urgency. He's still a ring general, but with more of a defensive mind-set. The only improvement that he could make is to throw his jab with some anger behind it, use it as a weapon more often. He's a defensive genius imho, he just needs to become more offensively imposing. It probably won't happen though, cuz it's simply NOT his style. He's content to outbox you, so the only time he's really gonna be tested is when his opponent presses him. No fighter has pressed him to that degree because they are aware of his freakish combination of speed and timing.

Last weekend didn't really change my mind on what I think happens between Nonito and Rigo, but it makes me wanna see Rigo in there with a pressure fighter or a puncher.

This been going on in boxing for YEARS from the FANS, when the see a fighter on the rise that is possibly a threat towards they favorite fighter...they start to OVER CRITICIZE that fight and desperately look for any reason to hate him and for any reason to convince yourself "HE IS NOT THAT GOOD"

I find it HILARIOUS how this Forum works though...just a bunch of Childish BANDWAGON JUMPERS!

As for Rigondeaux, if he had a weak chin he would have been DROPPED by those shots and probably would not have recovered like Amir Khan against Danny Garcia, he would not have recovered then came back and knocked his opponent down...TWICE...so this sudden MYTH of a WEAK CHIN I also find that to be HILARIOUS, fans don't even know the meaning of a "WEAK CHIN"

All I can say is that Rigondeaux is not the one being protected by his promotion and ducking any chances of fight TOUGH OPPONENTS unlike SOME PEOPLE, Rigondeaux WANTS to fight Top Fighters
