Some of you people are idiots. You say he hasn't stepped up in competition, he's been doing so for the past 2 years. You say he's over rated.. have you not seen the kid fight? he's too lethal. You say he's got work to do before he fights Cotto or Mayweather then you argue about stepping up his competition.. lol hypocrits.

Mayweather barely escaped Cotto. Canelo will make Cotto look worse than Marg did, WITHOUT plaster. Therefore, No Mayweather will not play with Canelo, he wouldn't dare.. He'd run the whole night. But Canelo is an actual threat so Mayweather wouldn't fight him.

Fight by fight, Canelo will be shuttin all you the hell up.

I'm fairly certain that Canelo has improved since then. Be a fun match up either way though, make it happen!

Chavez stepped up, even though he knew the odds were against him. He took his beating like a pro and will learn from it. Hopefully Alvarez steps up and takes on the best at 154 in the same manner

mayweather just went life and death with Cotto .Cotto okay? Mayweather isnt going to expose Canelo first of all because hes to much of a chickenshiat to fight any type of serious threat ,and secondley if he wont even fight Manny what makes anyone think he d fight canelo ,or martinez or any other top guy??? no way in hell! mayweather will be fighting orlando salido or jorge arce next, because those are the types of fights fraud jr takes.
I will never understand why a proven coward whom goes life and death with washed up fighters gets invoked in fights hed never in hell take any part in!
while canelo k9 martinez and every other top fighter from 147-154 are killing each other AND FIGHTING EACH OTHER fraud jr will be on his couch eating skittles posting brain farts on twitter and taking scumbaggish pics of himself with wads of cash....

Even though I haven't seen him fight some real comp yet, I wouldn't call Canelo a bum or overrated. The guy is rated fine. He has great punching power and he throws in spurts. I like to watch the guy fight. And he seems like a very humble boxer. I'm on the wagon now. But I would like to see him fight some credible opponents.

I actually thought that's what he was trying to do. But unfortunately Williams got hurt(damn that would've made a great fight). And Ortiz got his jaw broke. I think that really hurt Canelo's chances to prove he can outclass some higher talent. I just can't respect the beat down of Lopez that much because he's so small.

I don't see where the disrespect of Cotto is coming from. As if Canelo would just dominate Cotto. Don't think so. I think Cotto could push the fight to the later rounds and wear down Canelo. It would make for a good fight and I would buy it. I'd be intrigued by the Mayweather vs Canelo fight as well. But has he done enough to earn a shot? Hell if Tito Ortiz earned one, then Canelo has too. That would bring in MAJOR numbers. I think that can be just as or maybe more profitable than a Mayweather Pacquioa fight. Especially the way Manny has fought his last few fights. Not impressive.
