Mostly mexican nationalists. My question is derived from statements made.

I dont even dislike chavez, in fact i like watching him fight. Hes a fighter who has heart. His fanboys/nationlists have certainly made it easier to hate on the guy tho.

Jr doesn't need Roach in his corner. Last night Jr said yeah yeah yeah or yada yada yada while Roach was talking. Jr doesn't respect Roach.

I predicted Roach would too.. I knew by the 11th Roach would stop it.

O well glad he didn't as we got to see just how much heart Martinez has.

Wtf is Roach getting props for? I lost respect for him when Kellerman asked if he thought about stopping the fight. We all tripped out when we heard Roach say he thought about it. Hilarious! Jr does not need Roach.

Jr had no business being there in the 1st place...he simply doesn't rate. He was nothing more than a promotion. He didn't want to take his hands a way from his face because he was getting hit when he did. Had he tried to punch more he would have probably got KO'd.

Martinez won the 1st 11 rounds big...he had already won the 12th and could have simply cruised and pot shot a little more and had a shut out. But he wanted to make a statement and took a chance for the sake of the fans and showmanship. Chavez got lucky but even with that and Martinez having injured his knee and hand...still couldn't do anything about it and it wasn't because Martinez tried to avoid him.

I hope Martinez fully recovers from his injuries because he is one of the gifts in the sport and I want to be able to see more of him...especially against Mayweather Jr.

I can't even begin to understand Jr's fan-base...they will see what they want out of this and continue to speak the same nonsense that gave Chavez this undeserved opportunity. A rematch is just more nonsense unless Chavez actually starts to fight the other top fighters and shows he has at least a bit of talent...unlike what we have seen from him so far...which will never happen. Let him fight a Gennady Golovkin 1st and let's have a few more laughs at him...or else he should just go away.

A very good lesson indeed !!!!

Chavez will be a much better fighter now that he has been humbled , his heart is intact and his confidence is SOARING

Sergio , what can you say , ALL hail the Chief !!!!!!

What a fight to the end ! HIGH DRAMA for true fight fans,,,not for fan boys what ever that is.

I think Jr should link up with Roberto Garcia. Looking at the fight I can kind of understand why someone like Margarito beat Martinez in the past ( not saying it would happen again as Martinez is an improved fighter). When he has his opponents against the ropes he really breaks them down, has a way of sneaking in uppercuts and what not.

With Chavez, it is like he was trying to load up on his punches too much instead of smothering/swarming him. It reached the point where in the mid/late rounds Martinez started beating him on the inside even when he had his back to the rope- reminded me a bit of Ward and Dawson.

Ultimately I feel that Freddie Roaches fighters have poor inside game along with a poor defense. I don't want to take anything away from Martinez but there was a point in time where he hit him with 3 left hands in a row, Chavez gave him nothing to think about.

Like Freddie Roach fighters he tried relying on his athleticism but unfortunately for him he was up against someone who could go the 12 whilst beating the grease off of him.

Sleep really makes me appreciate that whipping Martinez handed out, but for the knockdown in the 12th round it would have been a stellar performance.
