Maidanas jab, defense, parrying with punches, body shots...all against a man content to walk through his shots. Once Karass got tired, it was a wrap. Bad stoppage, but the end was near.

The Alcine stoppage was terrible also.

marcos was giving as good as he was getting from rounds 1 through 8. soto-karass threw a lot of volume but i don't score missed punches and evidently the judges had maidana ahead as well at the time of the stoppage. he was throwing some serious leather all night and punctuated nearly every exchange with a clean solid shot. maidana was moving, slipping, countering, and jabbing things you would've never expected him to do while unloading nuclear shots. somewhere in round 6 soto-karass got several body shots in that had maidana hurt and on the run. round 7 was a continuation of round 6 til maidana recovered and started to land again and finally got his knockdown to even up the round. strong finish in the 8th. dude looked like an animal. i didn't think he was tired at all as he looked pretty fresh after the fight. he was definitely hurt and took some time to recover but it was a good performance by marcos overall. he needed that.

Stoppage was a bit premature but a hell of a fight.

Best fight of the undercard! Robert Garcia has done a remarkable job with Marcos Maidana. you can really see the difference.

Nobody should be taking those bombs for 8 rounds, not to mention a guy that big, hit Maidana with crunching power, he won't be able to continue taking if Maidana is long for a Boxing career.
Well said. That's the way I saw it.

It's worrisome to see someone walk through that many power shots: either Soto-Karass has an awesome chin or Maidana's power isn't that effective at 147.

Great wrap of the fight. Karass was there for the taking but it was a shltty stoppage. Gonzalez got his ass whipped.
