I thought the stoppage was a tad early - especially given Soto Karass's history - but not shockingly so. And the Ref did have a good look.

Fantastic fight though.

Maidana was destroying him in that round. He never recovered from the right hand in the previous round, that sent him down. Those are the kinds of brutal punishments that give fighters a post-career life, healthwise. Maidana was going all out in that round, hitting as hard as he can. When an already big puncher is swinging for the fences like Maidana was, and landing at will, and visibly hurting you, the ref HAS to stop it. Maidana can give you brain damage if you let him tee off on you like that.

I was impressed I think it was the 6th round, Maidana was in the corner and karass threw an 8-punch combo and maidana was bobbing weaving and being slick - that was great to see. Also saw a lot more jabs but he looked like he got tired mid way through, probably with all of that new movement and jabbing.
