LOVED THIS FIGHT. Maidana gassed in the 7th, holding onto Soto Karass any chance he could, but really dug deep in the eighth and landed some HUGE shots on Jesus in the corner. Stoppage was a hair quick IMO, but I firmly believe in err on the side of caution. Think Chino would have got him out of there regardless. WARGENTINA.

I thought Maidana was going to kill Karass....Soto put up a good fight and I think the ref stopped the fight a bit early. Soto still had some in the tank.

Maidana looked like a different fighter tonight, I was very impressed. Kudos for the work Garcia has put in with him.

Garcias done great work with Maidana, was nice to see him trying new things. All I have to say is Karass has a hell of a chin, he was getting hit with bombs.

Maidana looked pretty good last night, he worked his jab well.

Wouldn't mind seeing him fight Malignaggi/Cano, Guerrero, or even........Ricky Hatton.

To Team Maidana: U WILL Ruin Maidana If U Don't Keep Him At 140!!!

Maidana looked outstanding; the killer he's always been. Has as good a chin as ever, pounded his opponent with bomb after bomb, vicious punches, all night long, AT WILL. The problem: the opponent at 147, looked to weight maybe 160-165 lbs on fight night!!! Bombs that would have stretched out every 140lber in Boxing, didn't get the best of this big opponent till later in the fight. Nobody should be taking those bombs for 8 rounds, not to mention a guy that big, hit Maidana with crunching power, he won't be able to continue taking if Maidana is long for a Boxing career. If you're insisting Maidana fight at 147 because the money is better, his career will be short. If you allow him to stay at 140 and dominate, the money will take care of itself over a long successful career. Maidana said himself after Devon Alexander beat him at 147, that "he was too big, Maidana felt slower, and didn't like the way he felt at that weight". It would be a shame to see Garcia ruin Maidana at 147. Yeah he knocked out this guy last night, they may have even stopped it a bit early, but even when Pacquiao knocked out Margarito late in their fight at 154, Pacquiao said never again would he fight at that weight again. Margarito outweighed Pacquiao by 25 pounds on fight night, and Manny took a physical beating by such a larger fighter before Manny stopped him late. His team was smart enough to not go down that road again, and Team Maidana needs to do the same thing at 147; keep Marcos at 140!!! You will ruin Maidana!!!

Maybe Maidana had mentally projected Amir Khan's face on Karass in that fight.

Marcos Maidana was brilliant last night. Karass showed tremendous heart, but Maidanas jab was beautiful to watch. Maidanas jab set up everything.
