it's about who puts the butts in the seats. canelo & chavez jr. pack stadiums so it's a no brainer...i remember a few years back chris byrd was fighting andre golota for the IBF title. byrd was complaining to don king about his purse compared to golota's. byrd was to make around $500000 while golota got 4 million(numbers could be off a bit). byrd was like "why does golota get so much more then me? i'm the IBF champion" don king came back with "how many of these 15000 polish fans do you think are here to see you?"

Boxing should be one of the highest paying sports. these fighters go out on a limb and put there life at stake every time they square off in the ring. and there getting pennies on the dollar? that's tragic!!!

alright, last time i checked, the guys on the main card get paid the most out of anyone, cuz their the ones everyone's coming to see, so then how the hell is lopez getting paid less than maidana and how the hell is the WBC featherweight champ getting paid less than the challenger, if i was gonzalez i would be pissed off!

I never understand these claims that figures are underreported for "tax purposes." You mean tax fraud is so rampant in prize fighting that promoters basically just wantonly report it to the press themselves?

More likely the figures are legit. The IRS doesn't just play around.

Morales/Barrera 1, these guys were paid 500,000$ each. How does this make sense? This is 12 years later, the cost of living is up 12 years.

That is what they are reporting as his purse. I am sure he is receiving $100,000 plus as training expenses. In boxing this practice is done to lessen the tax the boxer pays.

Lopez is getting robbed....he should get $500k to $700 K at the very least. If he takes a L, his paydays are going to get lesser. $212k.....really...C'MAN!!!
