Like you can't go from Ali to being Joe Frazier.

But yes I will like someone to verify what he said. It was interesting.
This. When I got home and saw the HBO broadcast I had to digest that for a minute as well but it wasn't about who was better but more so the type of fighter ie from a technically superior boxer to an all out inside slugger.

Merchant had the line of the night when he said something like, "Haye took his shoes off after the fight to show why he lost, what he should have done was take off his pants."

Referring to Haye having no balls to engage with Wlad. Loved that line.

To me it sounded like he was talking about being a certain class of fighter. Like Dawson thought he was the greatest but realized against Ward he was only Smokin Joe.

That don't make a lot of sense. I honestly thought he meant it as a styles thing and how it's hard to go from one style (Ali) to another style (Frazier).

The reason is, Max with all his historical knowledge of boxing won't have made a comparison like that. Joe Frazier was much much closer to Ali then a lot of fans realized. Frazier had Ali on the deep end twice and actually won one of the two fights. The 2nd fight, he gave Ali all that he could handle.

Frazier is also a top 10 HW of all times. I don' think Kellerman would have belittled Frazier by indicating that 'he's ONLY Joe Frazier and he's no Ali'.

I realize most people think Ali is the greatest. I do too, but if a hard core fan came out and said 'To me Joe Frazier is greater then Muhammad Ali', I won't argue with him. I can respect that.

Dawson was behind and needed a KO to win.

Kellerman was referring to Chad needed to switch up his style from 'boxer' to slugger/puncher.

Wasn't really hard to comprehend IMO.
