Anyone hear Max Kellermans Latest gem ?

At some point during the Ward vs. Dawson fight Max dropped this little gem on us " It's like going to sleep Muhamad Ali and waking up to find out your only Joe Fraizer"

I can't give Max all the credit for that statement as he was quoting Larry Merchant from a fight in the 80's but the fact he even repeated meant it resonated with him ...

My wife who rarely watches fights with me heard it and before I could even say anything she was like " What the **** was that all about "

    Any thoughts ???

i think i heard it diffrently. but what i got from it was, he was talking about dawson having to change from the fighter he was in fight, in order to win vs ward. he was talking about him being one style of fighter, and having to become another in order to win.

I agree with you interpretation .... but I would like to hear it again to be sure of what I heard him say.

Not sure to explain this but I thought he meant Dawson is used to being the best (in division) just to find himself in there vs someone better?

It sounded to me like he was taking a shot at Dawson.

I guess but that he may have wanted to further explain it .. it was originally said by Larry covering the Holmes vs Spinks fight I thought they were trying to say you go to sleep as the best fighter in the world ( Holmes bieng the heir to Ali ) and then waking up and bieng a step below ? It just seemed like they were taking a stab at Fraizer could be me overthinking it but to be honest I didn't even have to think about it it immediatley sounded that way ... Even my wife was thinking the same thing

              No.

Kellerman meant that it's very hard to change styles. Dawson needed to have a style change and to become a fighter-pressure slugger, Kellerman was just saying it's hard to change styles.

Like you can't go from Ali to being Joe Frazier.

But yes I will like someone to verify what he said. It was interesting.

How and Why does he have ANYTHING to do with a boxing broadcast? He's another one who knows NOTHING about boxing, not one thing!! Ray.

You explained it better than me. I heard the quote and instantly thats what it hit me is.

I just dont see how the quote ties up to this. Not saying you're wrong but it doesnt make sense to me personally.
