    I just rewatched the fight.

The entire conversation is when Merchant started talking and saying

'Chad Dawson need to step it up, he's getting the truth from his corner. He can't win the fight unless he score a knock down or two'

    Max Kellerman then said
'Ya but that's not Chad's style of fighting, the one time he was in jeopardy against Jean Pascal he did step it up, but he didn't become someone that he was not. He just became a more aggressive version of himself.''
Ala, his style did not change, he just became a 'more aggressive Chad Dawson'

Then he said 'I remember you saying Larry during the Spinks-Holmes fight that it's hard to go from being Muhammad Ali to Joe Frazier'

(talking about how Merchant was saying Holmes needed to adjust to Spink's style towards the end of the 2nd fight in order to win)
he didnt say " go from being Ali to Fraizer " ...you seem to have quoted everything else perfectly except for the most important part ... there was something about "waking up to find out your Joe Fraizer " ... I'll be back with the exact quote

It sounded to me like he was taking a shot at Dawson.

I just rewatched the fight and he said nothing about waking up to finding you're Joe Fraizer.

Duno what you're trying to get at.

That's exactly how I interpreted it, which is disrespectful given that Frazier beat Ali, dropped him and gave him his toughest fight where Ali said he was on the verge of dying. Kellerman made it sound like Frazier was a chump.

The reason is, Max with all his historical knowledge of boxing won't have made a comparison like that. Joe Frazier was much much closer to Ali then a lot of fans realized. Frazier had Ali on the deep end twice and actually won one of the two fights. The 2nd fight, he gave Ali all that he could handle.

Frazier is also a top 10 HW of all times. I don' think Kellerman would have belittled Frazier by indicating that 'he's ONLY Joe Frazier and he's no Ali'.
Nah Ali was obviously way better... He beat the man that destroyed Joe...He outclassed and easily outpointed joe in the second fight and almost ko'd him with a right hand early on and this was nearly ten years after beating Sonny Liston...Joe Frazier is amazing but he is probably the third best or second best fighter Ali has fought
And on paper Ali ko'd poor Joe in the Thrilla..

Ali is way better than joe....

I can see your point of veiw but if you believe Ali and Joe are practically equally great because of the back and forth action then Ken Norton is just as great

Oh and before you mention the first fight.. Ali was out of shape and rusty with only two fights behind him after a three year lay off
