You remember somewhat correctly. Floyd stans defended the fight to the end because, "Marquez called him out so now he has to face the heat, and Marquez should move up to welterweight because thats where Floyds at". Before that however, many here on this site and others also said, "Floyd can make 140 very easily, hes a small welterweight". Then, you factor in "well, its a good fight because Marquez is # so and so on the pfp list".

Most boxing fans however, thought it was a **** match-up because of the size discrepancy.


Broner himself said hes in the 150s, so I'm not really sure why these particular fans would want Robert to go back down where he doesn't want to.

Its simply a double standard.

why weren't the Floyd stans insistent that the fight be at 140? They all said, "Marquez called out Floyd so he needs to go where Floyds at if he wants the fight"

As it is, for years, all we heard them say was, "Floyd can easily make 140".
