Manuel obviously was hoping to survive the early rounds and attempt to go tyson-mode in the later rounds, but he was taking such a barrage of punches that he was gonna get KO'd anyway.

I'm not arguing Charr was better, just that he deserved to at least finish the round.
Why did the ref not have it checked out immediately, why choose that particular moment with 60 seconds left?
Very frustrating for those watching and seemingly for Charr too.
Fwiw the commentators on boxnation agreed and suggested it could have been managed for a couple of rounds.Comment

Mirander doesn't have the same punch at LHW but he does seem to take a punch better which only opens the door to this kinda behaviorComment

Just goes to show.. when you opt to use the 'Rocky Balboa' strategy, it's risky, as there could be an injury or cut that causes stoppage.
(not that I think Charr was going to turn it around and grab a second wind victory..)
on another note, I would find it so interestingly ironic if Vitali retires with his last fight being a win from the opponent being cut.... i.e. Lennox's exit. There are some slight differences obviously.. Vitali was possibly going to win that fight, whereas apparently Charr didn't have near the chance to win this one.Comment
