How did pacquiao "drain" cotto????????????????

  • Not very many people here understand the subject of nutrition apparently.

A fighter will possibly be weight drained if he attempts to drain 20lbs for the weigh-in and then rehydrate as much as possible for the fight the next day.

A fighter will not be weight drained if he knows he has to come in 1lb lighter this time around and loses one pound of fat or muscle over the course of several months. "Weight drained" is dehydration. Nothing about losing 1lb has to entail dehydration.

Cotto was not one pound dehydrated in the fight with Pacquiao. Even if he were, all he would have had to do to avoid that is to lose one pound of real weight during training camp so he doesn't need to dehydrate himself before the weigh in.

    ****.

    • Pac fought DLH at 147 pre Cotto and Clottey at 147 post Cotto. If it's only a 2 lb difference than why ask for it? He clearly wasn't comfortable fighting Miguel, who was the champion at the time, at the full Welter weight limit of 147. Again, if he gains no advantage from the weight limit than why demand it?

Post fight they all said the difference was Manny's speed and angles that the punches were thrown at ... even Roach and Manny said that.

Either way, who would you believe in how Cotto felt like, Cotto or whatever Manny/Roach ASSUMED? Let's be real here.

Here are more facts and this one is the best one of all as Cotto not only said that he came in good at 145lbs, he said:

Question right after weigh-in: Cutting weight will affect your power?
        - Cotto - I ate well for this fight and I'm healthy
        - Cotto - My strength is too much for this fight (ie. too much for Manny)

Here it is at 4:30 minute mark

        • The one pound argument is a joke. For one, if a couple pounds is no big deal then why the fock demand it? Secondly, training for 145 is a lot different then training for 147.

Pac supporters are the only ones claiming that the catchweight didn't matter yet at the same time they can't explain why Pac demanded it and refuses to fight with out it.

Now you have these same Pac supporter saying that Pac could beat Cotto at any weight yet they can't explain why Pac decided to duck Cotto because of weight after chasing this fight in the first place.

This whole argument from the Pac supporters doesn't make sense. Just like they support Pac's phobia of needles excuse to refuse testing while not being able to explain how Pac at the same time is comfortable getting tat.

Pac supporters, to me, seem to be fans who have placed a lot of emotional investment on Pac that they can't turn back. This is why debating with such fans is pretty useless as you can see in this thread alone. The good news is that there is less of this type of fans left sense Pacquiao has been getting exposed. Of course some have dealt with this by implying that Pacquiao is either no longer motivated or is on the decline, yet for the rest of us we can see clearly Pac's performance has more to do with who is in front of him then Pac's prime state. Anyway, wish yall a good weekend.

          • Pacquiao drained Cotto by doing what Cotto wanted...fighting at 145. Cotto told Pacquiao 145 or F off. Pacquiao went with it so therefor he drained Cotto.

To a Manny hater, it will NEVER make sense!

Look, prior to the fight, even Cotto's camp said the difference is that Cotto is the bigger and stronger guy and that's what will do in Manny. They were trying to intimidate Manny's team with those type of lines while Manny's team would counter and say speed kills power ....

Back then Manny's team was still unsure if Manny can hang at full WW.
Cotto was the first true WW that Manny faced and a top WW at that. It took that fight with Cotto to make them know that they can hang at WW. Once you get and understand that then it will finally make sense to you. Until then, there is little hope for you and the other haters!!!

Again you continue to try an invade from arguments by trying to cloud them and not staying on topic which is why debating with you is useless. Everytime you get owned you quickly change the subject.

The question and topic of this thread and argument is whether Manny's catchweight had affected Cotto or not. What you posted has nothing to do with the argument or the threads topic. Nobody is debating wither it was fair for Pac to ask for a CW. That's a whole different argument.

The topic and argument at hand is wether Cotto was affected by Manny's catchweight?

Pacfans like to think that Manny's catchweights don't affect his opponents from coming at their best yet Pacfan's can't explain why Manny then demands it if Pacfan's claim it doesn't make a difference. Pacfan's claim Pac can beat Cotto at anyweight yet, can't explain why Pac ducks Cotto because of weight after chasing Cotto for a rematch in the first place. Sense the contradiction?

Don't expect further replys from me until you can stay on topic.

You like owning yourself so much that I don't even need to try! lol!

You try to explain to me that the topic on hand is "The question and topic of this thread and argument is whether Manny's catchweight had affected Cotto or not."

Then you say "Nobody is debating wither it was fair for Pac to ask for a CW. That's a whole different argument."

then you own yourself by contradicting the above with this on the SAME POST "why Manny then demands it if Pacfan's claim it doesn't make a difference."

If you are going to quote Cotto using that as evidence that he was fine for the fight, then why not quote him afterwards where he was saying he would sacrifice his body again?
