I hold an objective hope that this fight (May/Mart) gets made.

I can see that Martinez would be a financially viable opponent to Mayweather as he would not make stringent percentage demands on PPV revenue (if it makes $$ it makes sense right?) and would definitely be seen in the public as a fair opponent.

I see this fight being made at 154 though, not 160, unless prison time has really affected his metabolism (which I doubt). Floyd doesn't need more official belts and regardless of which weight they fight, Martinez will be considered the "Middleweight" Champ regardless of if they actually fight at 160. Therefore he will still be considered as beating the Middleweight champ if he wins.

That being said, I thought Floyd's last performance was a bit sloppy (12th round being the exception) and unless going down to 154 takes a large toll, Martinez should be able to pull away a win by the later rounds.

Oh ****, if it happened, it would be the supreme, epic fight of thoughtful, Master, Boxer-Athletes. Way more meaningful than Pac/May as both May and Mart have so many levels to their game.

    Let's hope it happens.

Sergio stops Chavez then Floyd....many people will discredit Sergio's win but he will win.

Floyd is too small for 160. The most realistic weight that this fight will happen at is 154. If this fight happens at 160, I'd give the edge to Martinez. At 154, a slight edge to Floyd. Sergio is no Cotto, if Floyd had trouble with Cotto's defense he's going to be in serious trouble against Sergio.

Depends on How martinez look against chavez. If he ends up KOing Chavez brutally ala P.will style gurantee their no Mayweather fight. Mayweather still to small right now, but recent pick I see looks like he bulking a lil up. Might be making a play to officially jump up and campaign.

Except Martinez has one shot KO power, which is one gift Calzaghe didn't have.
