He also said that Pac was brought to Bob Arum first and Arum refused to even take a look or a chance on a Racial slur for Asians, because they don't have a fanbase or bring any money in boxing.

The truth is Roach wasn't impressed, he held the mitts for Manny but after that told Manny you can train here and sent him to train with Lenny De Jesus the cutman/trainer, you might remember him as the cornerman of Josh Clottey.

Murad got Pac a last minute fight with Ledwaba on the De La Hoya fight in 2001, but the problem was De Jesus had to work the corner of a fighter overseas and couldn't corner Pacquiao so Roach took over, after Pac beat up Ledwaba that is the time Pac said Roach would be his trainer.

Roach also didn't have confidence in Pacman going into the Marco Antonio Barrera fight he tried to pull out and claimed it was because Murad was robbing Pacman, we all know that is BS has Roach ever showed concern for a fighters pay? no the man is just as greedy.

Roach only came back when he read or heard from a philippine source that one of his enemies Floyd Mayweather Sr. was being the first choice as a replacement trainer for Pacquiao. Roach didn't want Mayweather Sr. to train Manny so he went back with Manny.

I don't know how true any of this is, but there is a video of Ryan Songlia interviewing Lenny De Jesus admitting that he was the original guy who was supposed to train Pacman not Roach.

Fast forward to 6:05 of this video and Lenny De Jesus tells about how he was supposed to train Pac before Roach
murad did rob pacqauio tho...even manny knew that....manny almost did'nt get any of his money in one fight ..and if i remeber correctly , they were going to sue murad but they settled it after murad agreed to return most of the money ..

the story is kinda all over the place.. first roach didnt wanna train pac cause pac wasnt good but roach only train him because the guy who was suppose to train pac had to leave out of country for another fight. ok, then roach didnt wanna train pac but only train him because theres rumor that his long hated rival sr might be training pac instead???? makes no sense.. if pac is not good why would roach care who will be training him??

True they call it skimming, the difference is Bob Arum knows the law and can twist it like no other, and can get away with skimming money.

Arum gets paid big money he gets paid more than both fighters combined, if anyone confronts him saying you are robbing paquiao you said pacman will get paid 35 million, Arum will answer NO I said he could possibly make 35 million I never said he would.

Arum is slick, that is why he can get away with what he does, he knows what words to use and the law. Other promoters don't have his knowledge.

Truth is usually in the middle ie. I'd put my money on Roach not thinking much of Pacquiao when he first went to the Wildcard gym, as time progressed he became impressed and took him as his own fighter.

Also, to the OP; Roach and Floyd Sr have disliked each other for years. They fought on the same cards as pros, and Roach was a sparring partner for either Floyd or Roger, can't remember which.
Didn't Oscar say that before he picked Floyd Sr. he was considering Roach as his trainer back in 1999? Maybe Roach was bitter at Floyd Sr. for taking Oscar, and when he found out Floyd Sr. would get Pacquiao he decided not to leave because he wouldnt want to lose two fighters to Flyd Sr..

Lenny even confirms what the guy told me in the video interview by Ryan ********, even Ryan was shocked, Lenny kept quiet for a long time out of respect but a lot of trainers have said Roach is a joke trainer and only got famous cause of Pacquiao who was already a champion before he got with Roach.

Very possible story....I mean before Pacquiao who the heck wants to train an Asian fighter? First, they are known to have no power and is not marketable. They have been discriminated for years.......Asian fighters that come to America are cannon fodders.

Arum was one of the promoters who rejected Pacquiao, and called Pacman a racial slur and said they don't sell in America, he only changed his tune when he saw how many fans Pacman had, and not just Filipino, blacks, whites, and latino boxing fans were following Pacman at featherweight he was the most exciting boxer on the scene when he was younger, even Floyd was a big fan. I wonder if Pacman even knows Arum was two faced?

He's a bigger @sshole than Murad and has stolen more from Pacquiao than anyone ever did. Pacquiao is easy pickings because of his ignorant nature.

The posts in this thread make me happy, people being supportive of the fighter and not the people leeching off of his name.

I wouldn't go so far as to say he is a joke but he is incredibly overrated in my eyes. If you look at Pacquiao he'd be where he is now without Freddie Roach in his corner, as you said before he was a Champion before Roach and the things that bothered his best wins on his resume wasn't the things he learnt under roach it was his athleticism, power, speed and wildness. He'd have been a success under any trainer worth his salt.

I think because of the De La Hoya fight and the HBO 24/7 series Freddie Roach is receiving undue praise. You have people speaking as though Pacquiao's fight with De La Hoya made him when he had done enough to be in the hall of fame before all of that.
