P. Williams could have done it .... I always thought he needed to fix a few things but he had the attributes.
He was tall and had a work-rate that was very high. He also had a solid chin and let nothing slow him down .... and at WW it would have been very hard to find someone with the power to knock him out. If you can't knockout Williams then you need to finesse your way to a win and have good movement. Floyd has that but he uses it less at WW and his work-rate is usually not high and that can be a problem.
I doubt that Floyd could have won the fight with that style alone. Floyd would have to come out and be more on the offense because I can see Williams taking the early lead due to his work-rate.
The thing about Floyd's opponents is that they tend to get tired and fade in the 2nd half and that is when Floyd would take over .... but Williams kept his work-rate high throughout his fights.
Again, I'm aware of Williams boxing skills issues and he needed to fix them but at WW, it may not have been as detrimental ..... It would have been an interesting fight.Comment

Floyd is one of the GOATs when it comes to in fight adjustments.Comment

The thing is that most of those Southpaws lacked in other areas so it didn't matter that they were southpaws .... but nobody said that righties can't take advantage as there are other weaknesses.Comment

Some weaknesses of the style:
- Southpaw can take advantage of that style.
- Quick jabs.
- body punches to the exposed areas.
- taller fighter with a long reach can still find openings that a shorter fighter can't.
- If in that full shell position, you may not be able to get as much power in your shots.
The thing is that you need to find someone that has the right attributes and who is aware of how to take advantage of the weaknesses of that style.Last edited by KnockUTheFukOut; 08-18-2012, 10:00 PM.Comment
