Comments Thread For: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.’s 30-Day Weight, Comes in at 176

Chavez normally weighs 190 when not training for a fight. He weighed in at 176 after training all day and sweating off water weight just to weigh 176. If you weighed him dry yesterday, he would have weighed 183 or 184 pounds. Sergio didn't even have to sweat at all before he weighed in, that's the difference.Comment

Brah, Sergio is 5 foot 10.......already moved up 2 weight divisions and he has a high muscle content....muscle weighs more than fat does. He only has to lose 7 pounds to be where he needs to be to make weight.

Martiz DOES in fact seem like the hungrier and the more talented of the two... Only difference is Martinez is much older and JCC jr is much bigger.... Which makes this a GREAT fight, I hope no injuries, pullouts, or cancellations happen.Comment

15 pounds is alot to loose if your working on a 30 day notice unless he's the type of guy who can dry out and not be weakened as he rehydrates! I think this will be his last 160 bout or he needs to gain some discipline in between bouts! To be concerened about weight is an awfull way to bring a fighter along and it adds a negative to what should be a positive training camp. Some fighters are raised with dealing with weight looses and they have it under control but when your Jr.s size and maturation is taking place hydration doesn't need to go up and down.
The key here is when the weighin is? If its the morning before the bout then he has 32 to 36 hours to replenish fluids and foods. He could easily move from 160lbs to 175 but I wouldn't go higher than the weight he trained at. If he gets down to 172 these coming 2 weeks then he needs to replenish back to that. Plenty of fighters and trainers make the mistake of adding to much weight and then you get the same effect as over training. I would hope his fathers knowledge and experience has the scales under control. RayComment
