Catchweights are great for the sport, but when certain fighters use it as a way to drain their opponents, it is bad. It can make fights that won't happen without being handicapped, so that is good.
No belts should be on the line ever, if the weight limit is not respected.

Depends. I would of liked to have a catchweight in a Ward vs. Dawson scenario when you have two of the top p4p fighters in the world separated by a few pounds.

I hate it when a boxer uses catchweights regularly.

I prefer it when catchweights are offered to the smaller fighter, not when the smaller fighter demands a catchweight or there would be no fight.

Yup, I don't wanna see Floyd fight Martinez at a CW of 150 (Floyd's words) I want to see it at 154 or 160 when Martinez is healthy. 150 CW would be zombie mode for Sergio.

Ultimately that doesnt matter, as miguel lost anyways, but the catchweight was proposed/used solely for the purpose of taking something out of miguel. Manny had fought previously, and since, at the divisional limit. But whatever.

What i scratch my head over now, is considering how handily manny beat miguel, why is he asking for a catchweight again. Just seems hes scared to fight miguel when cotto is comfortable/full strength.
If a fighters signs to fight non of that bull**** matters. cotto fought margarito at a catch weight where was the outrage there? I love cotto BTW. ****in canelo has fought 5 cathweights nobody knows about. Catchweights happen very often.

If both fighters agree then that's it. Fans who complain about that are excuse making *******.

I'm not a fan of catchweight fights personally, but I don't mind as long as fighters aren't drained. They are ok. Pacquiao Cotto was not ok. Chavez Whitaker was not ok. Taylor Norris was acceptable.

And that's the thing. But lets add the obvious. What about if the fighter is dubbed fighter of the decade, is supposed to be greater than the fighter he called out twice & he already destroyed the man?? It's not just the catchweight. It's the facts surrounding the entire ordeal.

Why would a greater fighter need catchweights to fight a lesser fighter he already destroyed?? If we all say it out loud, we'll see how blatantly ****** it sounds.

I don't really care that much about them and they can make some interesting fights happen, although I certainly prefer to see two men fight in their best possible condition. I would also say I like to see a smaller guy really go for the gusto when challenging a bigger guy, to really prove how awesome they really are~

Saying fuck it and fighting a guy at his best weight is way more impressive than going well if you give up X he should still be alright.

Depends on the circumstances. Some catchweights are silly (Pacquiao-Margarito) and others I think are fine (Martinez-Williams and Pacquiao-Cotto). I think a title being on the line coupled with the fighters ability to make weight are the two important factors.
