What about the US Olympic light flyweights, flyweights, bantamweights, lightweights, light welterweights and welterweights?

Are they all in the NBA and NFL?

And for the record boxing in the UK has always been behind others more popular sports it's the 9th most popular sport behind even sports like snooker, tennis and Athletics.
Ok since the same can be applied. Show me another country whose decline in the sport boxing coincided with the rise in popularity of another sport.

Floyd Mayweather, Tim Bradley, Andre Ward and Adrien Broner are all undefeated boxers(121-0) because they are too small for the NFL/NBA.

You do realize that most of the folks in those weight classes get groomed as kids to try and make it to the NFL or NBA without ever thinking of becoming a boxer. Its not just about the HWs. Its about what they concentrated on as kids and dreamed of being and that is a NFL or NBA player.

I have answered the exact same question more than once in this thread.

Boxing was hugely popular in America hence there domination in the sport it's only logical to presume that if the sport was as popular in other nations there would have been much more talent from those nations.

The popularity of boxing in America has fairly recently declined but boxing has always been a less popular sport in a lot of countries so it's not a fair comparison. Yes sure USA are losing an increasing number of athletes to others sports but it has always been a less popular sport in other nations so they have always lost there best athletes to other sports.

boxing was the most popular sport on the planet for many generations.

it's particularly strong popularity in america came from the talent and level of success of american fighters, not the other way around, dude. that's ridiculous.

you're clearly vested in this for the sake of discrediting america.

american HW boxing doesn't look the way it does because the other nations are simply getting better.

they're getting better, but that's not the only reason why american HW boxing is so weak,.

the main reason is that our best big athletes are playing other sports when they used to box.

these threads come up constantly. you guys are always found to be anti american. any unbiased poster will tell you that the american athletic talent at HW is in the NBA and the NFL.

other countries are getting better HW, but that's nowhere near the entire story. if you think it is, you're either ignorant or biased. there is no way around that.

The bold is completely false lol why you making stuff up.

Right and because my opinion doesn't match up with yours I'm anti American please point out what I have said in this thread that can even be remotely mistaken for being anti American.

Sure America loses some great athletes to sports other than boxing so does every other country move on.

                  • This excuse has been one of the most pathetic things I have ever heard in my life. People just can't take losses right. I'm patriotic and all but it's sickening seeing all the crying, from boxing and especially in the Olympics now with people and China accusing them of cheating cause they have more gold medals.

                    • It's absolutely true.

As everyone knows, the NBA and NFL were founded in the mid-90's when the shift occurred.
