Further proof that USA's problem with boxing has nothing to do with athletes being in other sports but with the fact that they have a weak am program.

Yes the pro game is way different but there are only so many talents out there that do not need the AM game to succeed. You need solid foundations, you need AM fights...

I like how the top US super heavy says he will go pro after dropping twice in an AM fight with headgear on.

Wasn't Breazeale a starting football player in college?

yeah, he's from that one gym that specialises in converting football players into boxers.

i don't think there's a dearth of talent in america, it's just that their amateurs don't seem to be developed with the current scoring system in mind. their fortunes will surely improve when we return to the ten-point-must system.

Olympic scoring is horrible right now but there's nothing to complain about with this one. He got beat fair and square.

He would have lost whatever the scoring criteria was, did you see the fight?

i wasn't specifically talking about him. he was just inexperienced and kinda mediocre. some of the smaller yanks like spence, gausha and diaz jr have looked more like pros than amateurs.

I haven't been following the Olympics. How are the American doing overall as a whole?
