Can't believe what I witnessed. Back to the drawing board. Marcus' style of fighting is much better for pro fighting than the Olympics. He will make a huge impact in the pro's.

Look at the gif in your sig. The clock is at 0:00 long before Gausha lands a punch. The fight was already over lol

Not sure I agree. I feel like this becomes the default answer every time an American loses in the Olympics (or fails to make the squad).

Browne's style is actually 100% amateur-based - pot-shotting, stick-and-move, lack of aggression (that, by his own admission in pre-fight segments). Maybe it was just the opponent today, but I didn't see a lot of pro traits in Browne's game.

I can see him getting eaten alive in the pro ranks especially as a light heavyweight (or even if he campaigns as a SMW), unless he suddenly discovers an untapped mean streak.

I agree with you there, Ramirez is an American with a good pro style. Hooper vs Mekhontsev should be a great fight. I favor Mekhontsev. Jake any thoughts on this below?

This is not a default answer. Because I know him personally, I'm speaking based on his overall style, not what was displayed in this fight. Marcus clearly won the first 2 rounds. There was definitely a fatigue factor in the third which shocked me. He is very aggressive and hits hard. He has over 50 KO's as an amateur.

Sadly, we didn't see the best of Marcus Browne when it counted. I do not discredit Hooper in any way. This is what the Olympics are about. Now there are less Olympic Gold medal winners that became Champions than vice versa. The reason is obvious, different styles in pro & amateur.

I respect your view, just wish a better Marcus showed up today.

He twisted his ankle on the first knockdown and in the gif as the standing 8 ends you can see him looking and pointing to his foot trying to talk to the ref as Gausha comes in a cracks him. lol protect yourself at all times is right. I just find it strange that no one else has noticed or commented on it at all.

Gotcha. Fair points on his past achievements. He was humble about the loss, admitted he failed to properly carry out his corner's instructions. Gotta respect that.

I remember the punch and the 0:00 clock being A LOT closer than what is shown in that GIF. I watched Gausha's fight live on TV, not on a stream. Unless the US feed had the wrong clock, I can't say the display in that GIF is very accurate and therefore have no comment on it.

Gausha must've carefully studied Mayweather-Ortiz in preparation for the Olympics.
