Rios was on the most recent edition of BoxingScene’s official radio show The Boxing Lab and addressed the possible fights that lie ahead for him at 140 pounds. Former WBO Super Featherweight champion Adrien Broner recently called out Rios for a possible fight after he defeated Vicente Escobedo on HBO. Rios would definitely want the fight but he feels the Top Rank and Golden Boy promotional feud would prevent that fight from materializing.
boxers r idiots these days, u see guys like Broner and Rios...they're young and fight at 130 and 135 respectively. If ur body is trying to grow, and your already cutting like 15 lbs or more to make 130, 135 and you come in 3 pounds over, why do u realize u can't make 130 and only move up 5 lbs to the next division were u still gotta kill urself to make weight...yeah now you will make it but ur still dieting and resisting ur body's obvious need to grow. If you weigh 148 for a 130 fight...move the **** up to 140 AT LEAST. If you cut 15 or 20 lbs to make 135 and can't ne more, move to 147...the 4 best fighters in the world imo are Martinez, FLoyd, Manny and Marquez...they all fight at their natural weight. Martinez cuts 5lbs for 160. Floyd, Manny and Marquez don't even cut weight
@ Feroth.....I hear ya - happening more than ever in boxing now obviously...its clearly a $$$ thing. having a bigger fighter lose all that weight and beatup on opponents with smaller frames creates a "buzz" for the fighter, racking up all of the KO's...the media loves KO's...KO's = easier way to gain recognition for a higher-paying fight. Promoters/managers/matchmakers know this and will try their luck and hold back on their fighters moving to the correct weight class where the fighter should be fighting...by the time they make it there, if they lose its all good because they at least got several decent paydays along the way - and that one sizeable payday for fighting a "top" guy or just a tough buy @ the proper weight class. plus if they lose they can always say - 'hey, ive never fought @ this weight before -they were too big"
