Breaking News - Appeal lodged against Anthony Ogogo's remarkable win

BoxRec News understands that Ukraine's boxing team has lodged an appeal after Great Britain's Anthony Ogogo was given a razor-thin decision over their World Champion, Ievgen Khytrov.
The British middleweight had to take two standing counts (one of them looked unnecessary) as Khytrov poured on relentless pressure. Yet Ogogo's defence was excellent and much of the Ukrainian's work was hitting his gloves and arms whilst the man from Lowestoft managed to get through with some eye-catching shots of his own.
The judges not only had it level at 18-18 at the conclusion, but the countback scores were also announced as being level at 52-52. Therefore the five judges had to simply indicate which boxer deserved the win by pressing a button and Ogogo was announced as the winner.
Understandably, Ogogo celebrated wildly.
The grounds for the appeal is not yet known but the london2012 website's scoring breakdown of the contest (pictured), if accurate, indicates that the countback score was actually 53-52 to Khytrov.
From a British perspective, one hopes the error lies with the website rather than the ringside officials' mathematics.
