What's Worse: Pacquiao draining Cotto by 2 lbs, Or Ward draining Dawson by 7 lbs?

Dawson wanted to take Jermain Taylor's spot in the super 6 tourney. So Dawson's been looking to move down for a little while now. I think it's a bad idea on his end but time will tell. Ward is not draining Dawson.

Cotto wasnt forced. He could have easily declined and moved on. Why is it unfair to ask a bigger fighter to come in 1lb less than his previous fight but nobody questions the fairness when Cotto outweighed Pac significantly on fight night? I'm a big Cotto fan but I have no sympathy for fighters who struggle to make weight. If you cant make weight comfortably then fight in your correct weight class.

Lets not forget that during the post fight interview Cotto stated that the weight wasnt an issue and not a reason for the loss. He said he felt comfortable and it was instead Pac's speed that through him off. "I didnt know where the punches were coming from"

Did you have a problem with Clottey and Margarito coming in as Middleweights on fightnight against a guy who barely makes the WW limit?

You guys do know that the purpose of a catchweight is to even the playing field right? Its been going on for decades. In the case of Pac, why is it that its unfair to his opponents to have to come down in weight in order to face him but not unfair to Pac when he's facing a man who's 2 weight classes above him come fight time?

But he's got a bigger hill to climb, big lhw, last at 168 7 years ago. Cotto weighed in 1lb heavier in the previous fight, and was a champ (via vacant belt) at 140. Why would a fan suspect 7lbs would be easier than 1, cause Dawson said so? Didn't DLH say he was in great shape for Pac? Why leave it to chance anyway, why not go for Dawson's lineal, a guaranteed tough fight, and all the extra prestige?

Btw, Cotto must have been massively drained vs Pac to be out of the fight by round 5. Do you figure his 6 round footrace to get away from Pac might have reached the finish line without the massive drain?
Stop saying that Cotto weighed in a pound less in his fight before Pacquiao because that has nothing to do with nothing. The limit was 147. If it was only that one pound then why negotiate a fight for 145? When I hear people say this, it tells me that they're clueless about how fighters make weight.

35 year old Dlh was in shape, but not for a fight where he had to throw punches for 12 rounds. He was in defensive mode also.

Why does Ward have to go to 175? To satisfy you? Dawson is in his prime. The fight hasn't happened yet. We will find out if Dawson is weakened.

Cotto didn't run. Fans like you think that he ran because he stopped punching, and started moving. Cotto was in defensive mode because of Pacquiaos punches, AND because his reserves were not there...imo of course. Still why fight Dlh at 147 and then Cotto at 145? Because he didn't think Dlh was dangerous, and thought that Cotto would be dangerous at 147.

Because fans thought that after seeing those catchweight fights that Pacquiao didn't need them.

Dawson has pretty much no issue with it as far as I know. Draining Cotto was worse.

Did Ward ask Dawson to come down? NO!!! So how is Ward draining Dawson if Dawson called out Ward at a CW.

Dawson calling out Ward at a CW shows Dawson feels confortable going down since his the one asking especially since Dawson had plans on moving down anyway. This is much different then Cotto and Mannys situation!!

Pac forced Cotto down from 147 and even forced Cotto to put his belt on the line. Cotto never ask and wanted the fight with Manny at a CW so the thread title is not a valid one...

BTW.....just for argument sake...Pounds become less significant at higher weights. A pound off of a 4foot dude is going to be much more noticable then a pound off a 7foot dude!!!

                      FAILED THREAD!!
