And how can you deny it's less meaningful this way? He's fighting a guy with no sww credentials, who last made 168 7(?) years ago. Ward moves up and fights the lineal champ, for his second divisional belt. It'd be his best and toughest win. At 168, we don't know what Dawson brings, but it'll be a miracle if Dawson is not compromised by the weightloss.

He was considered a legit 154 titleholder, number 1 in the ring rankings in fact. When has a titleholder asked a contender in the same division for a cw? How about a divisional non contender coming off a horrible beatdown?

I just learned he requested a rehydration clause for Marg. When is the last time a champ requested a rehydration clause in his own division? How about against a one eyed bum?

Pac had already earned belts in record tying 6 divisions without asking for cws. You think it's no big deal? Ward just passed up an opportunity to make the Dawson fight much resume enhancing by moving up and going for his second belt. Sergio's been fighting Barker and Macklin despite interest from all big name smw. What's preventing these guys from making these more meaningful fights one division up?

My point is that (afaik. If my info is incorrect, I might reconsider my position on the matter) Dawson wants Andre's titles so he is going down to 168 to try and collect them. Dawson's LHW title is not on the line (or am I mistaken?).

If Ward wants the belt that Chad got from Hopkins I'd expect Ward to go up to 175 to chase it.

If they just wanted to fight w/o risking their respective trinkets, I could see a catchweight being appropriate.

Fair enough. Why do you suppose the following much more egregious cw requests didn't get 1% of the criticism:

1. PWill asking to fight for Sergio's lineal title at a cw. And that's after dragging SM up to middle in the first place
2. ODLH requesting to unify his (stolen) mw belt at a cw
3. Cotto requesting to defend his sww belt and no 1 ring rating against a one eyed bum at a cw. It's gotta be unprecedented, don't you think?

How many posts you think you made about those, compared to Pac Cotto? If not many, why?

Do you have a problem with Pac not want Cotto 2 above 147 (or 48)? It's not a catchweight, and AFAIK he didn't ask for Cotto's paper belt this time.
