Alfonso Gomez Will Defeat Shawn Porter

Just want to alert you to a fight that isn't getting much attention. On the Guerrero and Selcuk card is the veteran Alfonso Gomez vs the young guy Shawn Porter. Of course, Porter hopes to keep his zero defeats alive but it won't happen. Gomez had 5 wins in the last 6 -only losing to Alvarez. Except for an early stoppage, Alfonso was beginning to win rounds against Canelo but the stoppage ended his chances. Look for Alfonso to come out strong and use all the skills we have seen him utilize against alot of opponents. SHowtime will open with this fight- don't miss it!! Irish Ed

I'm rooting for him.... first boxer I became a huge fan of from the Contender... I've been pulling for him ever since.
I think he can do it..... here's hoping that he pulls it off.
And yes, he was going to town on Alvarez while the compubox guys were desperately counting punches for Canelo.

I don't bet. Would just be happy if it happens.

Been watching Porter since '09 when he was Manny's sparring partner for the Cotto fight.

I think Gomez has a shot in this myself though I can't see him getting a decision.
              Not entirely impressed with Porter.

Alvarez was toying with Gomez. He wasn't even trying. Literally trying to learn in the ring. As soon as he semi turned it up Gomez was done. Early stoppage? Probably, but the outcome would have been the same soon.

Porter has struggled against subpar comp in the past and Gomez is a very solid boxer. The fights that Gomez has lost have been against big body punchers who can pressure.

I don't think Porter has been active enough and he doesn't really pressure enough IMO. I think Gomez will actually be able to outbox him and trouble him throughout the fight but when it goes to the cards, Porter wins a close SD.

Shawn Porter has never shown anything to make me think that he will just walk through Alfonso Gomez. Gomez is very solid.
