He's very predictable and needs to learn how to box smart.
I don't think he needs a new trainer. Khan's problem, in my opinion, is himself. He doesn't box smart consistently. He was having his way with Garcia then got caught with that left hook. He then tries to show how macho he is & mixes it up which is ****** really. yeah its entertaining but if you're really hurt thats the last thing you want to do because, as what happened, ou get knocked out. Khan has started well in his previous 2 fights then after a round or 2 that has gone out the window. I know the Peterson fight should probably be changed to a ND but the point is Khan got dragged into a fight he shouldn't have been fighting. Fighters now know how to drag him into a fight. I could see it happening in the final press conference for Garcia when he was clearly aggitated & made the boast that he would KO Garcia. He played right into his hands because you could tell he was under his skin

I'm thinking Peterson. No power punchers yet.

Will be interesting to see who he fights, surley going to be more of a boxer-type as opposed to a power puncher.

From a personal point of view id lke to see the fight in England, so i can go along. But i suppose that would trim down the pool of possible opponents further, so can't see that happening.

          He can't fight a puncher.

Amir Khan needs to start fighting guys his level and I suspect he will going forward. Unless his team wants to cash out now.

I'm a Khan fan and he has won a few top-flight fights: Kotelnik, Judah, Maidana, Malignaggi.

So he does have it in him.

But the fella seems to be getting rocked and hurt in every fight at the moment barring the McCloskey debacle. He maybe does need to step down a level for a few fights and see if he can iron out a few things. If not his career is shortening with each fight he takes.

Malignaggi and Judah aren't wins that impress me right now. Malignaggi tailor made and Judah nearly several years past his best. He barely beat Maidana (if at all) and Kotelnik? Right. Mix in a first round flattening at the hands of Prescott, a four round assault from Garcia and a loss to the decidedly mediocre Lamont Peterson and what do you have? You have a mediocre fighter. That's his level.

Disagree with that. Regardless of whom and who isn't tailor-made there are quality fighters on that list.

Khan at the very least is a solid top 10 140-pounder who is vulnerable. Mediocre certainly isn't the word I'd choose.

The standard definition of that word must be different than yours.

The problem is the way he fights, which is an uncoordinated and amatuerish style that works more towards his weaknesses than his strengths. Khan is a big guy with questionable punch resistance so he should be jabbing from the outside and capitalising on his opponent's weaknesses. Instead he's in there trying to brawl without any sense of defence, which is a recipe for diasaster considering his attributes. I blame Freddie Roach for this. It's a recurring theme with his fighters. He tries to get all of them to fight just like Manny Pacquiao and not everyone is suited to that. As we have seen twice with both Linares and Khan.

I'm not saying that everything would be great for him without Roach, because I think that he has some built in flaws that were always going to prevent him from being great, but he would have a much better chance to get where he wants to get in this sport if he joined up with a trainer who taught him more than one aspect of boxing and developed a style that suits his attributes, and a trainer who can devote a solid amount of time to him. Someone like Jeff Mayweather or Naazim Richardson would be a good choice, but whoever it is, he needs a change so that he can develop a more suitable style. There's this myth that Freddie "The Dope Coach" Roach is one of the best if not the best trainer in the sport, but in reality he is one of the worst if not the absolute worst trainer around.

It is for someone who can beat a Kotelnik (decent fighter at best) and then get his ass handed to him by Garcia. And Peterson. And Prescott. He's the very definition of mediocre.
