His corner pulled him out, Ortiz quit himself. Doesnt the writer realise this?

He's been on hbo enough now, and the guy doesn't bring anything to boxing. Very average and boring to watch. Somebody else deserves a shot.

If Broner gets touched up with body shots by a "below average" guy with a weight disadvantage, maybe he shouldn't be comparing himself to the best defensive fighter in the game...

The fight was a mismatch, broner is good, but he is fighting average competition. I want to see him in the ring with Gamboa/Marquez/Rios. Can you imagine if Floyd fought Escobedo? Al Haymon and his mismatches. I hope Broner is not the new Berto. Al Haymon is destroying the sport, because now every promoter wants to do the same lame fights until they are a ppv attraction. I wish i could go back in time when Ali or Duran/Leonard/Hagler/Hearns that was boxing now is just a bunch of punks with no word. HBO Haymon Boxing Organization those fights were misatches I have seen better fights in espn.

What an idiotic article, Escobedo didn't quit. Someone is still mad that Ortiz quit.

It was really difficult not too feel for Escobedo. That said, make weight or don't make weight for Broner and he still would have walked right through him.

I really felt for Escobedo when he cried. That said, the article is right to a degree. Escobedo was never going to beat Broner and honestly Ortiz should have been given more sympathy for quitting with a broken jaw! Personally I believe it has alot to do with the fact that he lost to a young, arrogant, flashy, motor mouthed black kid and any man who isn't rich would have taken the money too, but the tears were mostly a result of that ass whoopin!!I just agree that Ortiz quitting while winning the fight to save his jaw should be respected a tad bit more than Escobedo being mad cause Broner was slightly bigger than he.

I'm sorry to tell you guys but Escobedo quit, the round before the stoppage he told his corner that he's(Broner) too fast and he can't hit, then in round 5 while getting trashed, he takes a look at his corner and his corner acted accordingly, he may have quit like Victor did but we all know that if you look at your corner while getting trashed, that means you want out.

It was a horrible style matchup for Escobedo. If your fighting style is a boxer or boxer puncher but its not good enough to get you past Katsidis then you dont belong in a ring with a slickster like Broner.

We should all be happy for the guy. He was going to get his ass handed to him no matter what. Broner's weight flop just gave made the trashing look less impressive and he got some extra cash! His tears must have been of joy
