Agree, coming into the fight I didnt have Escobedo having a chance. As the fight started, it looked like he just didnt have the power to keep Broner off of him, and this is from him dropping in weight. I think the reason he got emotional is because he realized there really isn't anywhere else to go from there, in terms of opportunities and it seems like he is always coming up short..Gotta give him credit for always trying his best..

The article is an opinion piece and contrary to what some have posted, the author was not saying any fighter "quit" in this fight, he was talking about how the talking heads decided to judge Ortiz as compared to the sympathy given in this fight.

I like the article it makes a point I felt uneasy about, maybe it makes the haterade line go into production because the whole situation ******?

Lets look at the ugliness here: Bronner looking out for number one does not even try to come in at a fair weight. His opponent takes the money and probably pulls out a little early (his corner? whatever) because why should he take a beating from an opponent who is not playing on a level playing field...what does this say about this guy?

The whole thing is about self interest. The fans hold the bag.....

I have a theory. I think contrary to what people think Bronner was aware enough not to go after this guy like Louis did to Schmeling....if you catch my drift! People got a showcase, Bronner gave a lot of money to his opponent, and maybe just maybe there was more good grace, cooperation than appeared in the very cynical pretense/turn this fight took from what people were led to believe.

I dont blame Escobedo for quitting, but he did quit. I don't blame him because he is a bum, and he was completely over-matched from the start. Quitting isn't bad if you are being demolished and have no chance, might as well preserve your health at that point than be a human punching bag just to make your opponent look good. More guys should do it
