Well if Ortiz were to pay Rolando his commission of 192k without a license then Ortiz would have probably been fined. That's probably why he made a stop payment. He's also been recovering and it's not his responsibility to keep up with his manager's stuff at a time like that. I'm sure Ortiz' accountant let him know his manager's license expired. The whole purpose of a license is to be registered in order to make your commission, which is what Rolando didn't have...

24% for manager? That seems kind of high, I think. Plus add on trainer fees, camp fees, and the rest of the team, that's gonna whittle that 800k down to less then half...

Marciano's manager Al Weill, a "connected" person used to take 50% from the purse. Still Marciano was reputed to have had over $4 mill when he was killed in that air crash-a huge amount for those days. He only had 5-6 defences so he must have made a bundle betting on himself, most likely in his earlier fights...... Maybe they both did. They still dig holes in his property looking for it. He had a reputation as a miser who was paid for just about everything he did, like Joe DiMaggio who wouldn't even sign a kid's programme unless he got money for it.

This isn't the first time that Ortiz has screwed a manager out of his share. Once before he filed for bankruptcy to avoid paying what he owed his previous manager.

Eventually everyone will realize that Ortiz is a scumbag and a total phony.
