This is what I hear....that sucks as I was hoping Guzman was his next opponent. However, maybe Guzman can fight someone else who is worthy of mention. And it looks like Cano will be fighting at 147lbs and not 140lbs so maybe Guzman can fight someone else for the WBA title...who knows.

Guzman probably takes this. Good to see him get back to the top again but he should count himself lucky he's been given another chance.

One thing i will say is though is that people seem to think Guzman is now a power puncher at 140. Fair enough he's ko'ed a few guys recently but the level of competition has been poor. I've followed his whole career and he was never a power puncher at the lower weights unless it was a poor opponent. With the step up in competition i think we'll be seeing Guzman try and box to more decisions i don't think his power will trouble the top guys at 140.

Yeah, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen anymore....Cano will be fighting Paulie M now....oh, well.

Good scrap, should not be for a title though. Put it on a ShoBox: Special Edition with a good undercard. Winner lines himself up for another meaningful fight. If Guzman trains hard and focuses, it's his fight to lose. His skill trump Cano's considerably and Cano's face marks up pretty easily.

My friend. when both were at 130 or less, that fight was offered twice to "JMM team", but both Beristain said no. I think he had his reasons ... today would be a great fight to see ... at 126 pounds I have no doubt that Guzman would win, by any way. In 130 he would win by UD, but in 135 and now at 140 i think JMM would have an advantage.
