Then you're delusional because just from a style stand point that fight could have elevated Guzman. Guzman had the perfect style to beat Marquez.

I couldn't agree more! When Guzman was on top of his game not even Marquez could have handled him. His defense was always top notch and just like Marquez was and is one of the best counter punchers out there. As for where they are right now...well, that's hard to tell but let's see what Guzman does next.

I really see this as a real motivation for Guzman! I am willing to bet this guy will be really ripped for this fight because he knows this will put him back in the limelight. If he was able to get in shape for these fights that really meant nothing...I can only imagine how pumped he must really be right now. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if he is in the gym right now. He knows he can't mess this up or it will definitely be the end of him! Let's see what he brings.

Wow! Your post doesn't even deserve a reply....because to compare Guzman to Rios skill wise is beyond ridiculous! And Guzman's chin is very solid compared to Khan's...it's all I'm gonna say about this.

yeah because there aint much to say....i didnt mean skills, i meant relativity to the game and merrit... so yeah guzman came close to becoming something a long time ago and thats where its gonna stay, beating up Cano aint gonna do anything for anyone.

Stylewise it would have been a nightmare for JMM.

I agree with you, Guzman cannot blow his chance to get back to the top and specially not let down the fans because besides skills, fans determines your net worth so Guzman is more motivated and focus than he has ever been in his entire career! I live in New York and I went to the former gym he used to train and trust me what you see in TV is just a small portion of the abilities he possess !!! Guzman will win another major world tittle! and I hope he gets to fight a top 5 in the division so we can read another ignorant comment with the excuses.....

As a fan of Marquez you should have known this, Juan's weakness is a mover, someone who isn't gonna allow him utilize his counter punching. Guzman would have dictated the pace and forced Juan to become the aggressor and that alone takes him out of his comfort zone. Joan also had the defense and durability to hang with Marquez.

In the bold, plenty of people I've spoken to recognize his talent and many talk about how he's underachieved. This has always been constant with most boxing fans too. Guzman is an all around great fighter, as avoided as he's been he also has himself to blame for most of his problems. Guzman is in the right track right now and personally, I think he's good enough to beat anyone at 140. One would have to be a fool to think a fighter of Guzman's talent is gonna be kept locked away.
