Hatton beat 2 seperate title holders including ackward fighter Carlos Maussa and the legendary Kostya Tszyu. It's an easy call for Hatton. To be honest, there hasn't really been a "fighter" this year that you can really vote for, but I'd say Hatton gets it. He's been out for a long time fighting and put his perfect record on the line twice against dangerous opponents.
Since when was Maussa dangerous? All he did was prove how overrated and ****** Harris was, nothing more. He's far from a good fighter. Hatton was unimpressive in both fights, simply doing what he had to win.

I agree with the rest of your post, though. Nobody sticks out this year as a fighter of the year. Floyd didn't fight anyone worhtwhile this year, so you can't pick him. No one in the Light-heavy division did much, minus Tarver beating an overrated Johnson, and a shot Jones.

Hatton's the best choice that I see, but I don't feel too good in picking him. Including Corralles is a joke.

What about Winky Wright? Yes, he beat overstuffed welterweights but they were huge names on his resume.

That's true, but beating Trinidad after a huge layoff, and one good fight against a vastly overrated fighter is not a big deal. Solimon isn't a bad win, really, he was on a 19 win streak, so...

I will have to go with Hatton, going into the fight with Tszyu, about 80% of the people thought Tszyu was going to destroy Hatton and humiliate him, but he proves the skeptics wrong and makes Tszyu quit in the final round.

I have to go with Hatton.

Tszyu was also injured for 22 months & although knocking out Mitchell, looked unimpressive and on his way down. Tough call but Winky has the better names in 2005, Hatton has the better wins.

I disagree about Tszyu looking unimpressive, he dismanted Mitchell with ease when he was the underdog. If Winky did become fighter of the year, I wouldn't protest against it.

I give a slight edge to Taylor over Hatton but really no one has more than one big win this year. Castillo has had a good year as well even though he lost to Corrales the first time. He beat Diaz and won the rematch against Corrales.

                    Records mean nothing, man.

Every great fighter had losses on his record(with the exception of Rocky Marciano, Salvador Sanchez, and Ricardo Lopez)

Taylor didn't beat Hopkins in impressive fashion, I had Taylor winning by one point, but there are many people that believe he lost.

Fighter of the year needs to win convincingly.

I would give him the benefit of the doubt, but there was controversy in the rematch. If he had made the weight, I wouldn't mind having him fighter of the year.
