His trainer is Ice John Scully, Scully fought Michael Nunn back in the day and he had to make weight for fights and learned so much from that, that he can transpose the gest of that knowledge to Chad. Being a former fighter, that gives him an edge there.

Not all fighters. Say you have a guy at 180, 60 days out. He drops to 168 at weigh in. He may come into the ring at 178-180 after hydration and eating. Some fighters even gain more after the weight in. But they usually started out 15 plus pounds at the beginning of training camp.

Yeah I know Lucian Bute does that. He's usually well above the LHW limit on fightnight. Not everybody that can be effective doing that.

The Premier example is probably Gatti. He used IV's at night to regain his health. I don't know if thats legal in California though.

And then he really hurt Gamache who was so much smaller on fight night.

The first question I asked at the press conference yesterday to team Dwson was about the weight and when I heard Chad was 179 and never gains a lot between fights, I felt assured that both guys will have no weight issues for the fight. Ward has to cut too...a little easier for him but both will be at their best, unforseen injuries excluded.

The gamache fight was much more shady than that as Gatti didnt weigh in properly.

Gattis weight gain after the weighin was legendary in general.

Of course they will never say it if if weight was a concern, so you cannot really put anything into their words.

Did you ask (or perhaps know) whether there will be random testing for this fight? Shaw Said that it would be a fight between two clean fighters and that made me wonder.

But Chad's current weight tells me what I need to know, 179 is great at this time. I got that from someone on his team I have known for 10 years. Not sure about random testing. Didn't hear anything either way.
