Didn't JuanMa get blasted twice by Salido and hung on for his life against the African Dude, whose name no one cares about. If Gary Russell wants to prove his worth, do it against Mikey Garcia or Jhonny Gonzalez or even Cabellero. Calling out a guy who was destroyed in his last two fights, then saying he has to wait till 2013, is nothing but more excuses to keep fighting Pansies. I think Russell Jr has a future in the sport, however, to say he is not being protected but is "Building his Career" is garbage.

Russell is developing his skills and he is also using his TV spots to create a buzz about him. To this point, through 20 fights, I see no problem with this.

The problem is, he does not have the same desire to take risks that even Franco showed in accepting the elliminator.

If a guy says "I can bench press 220 pounds" but then goes on to only press 90 pounds, that is a big problem. That means he doesn't back up what he says. Thats says "I am better than Gamboa, but I am not ready for an eliminator with Franco". All talk and no action.

Yes, it's called backing up what he says. A man who claims to be better than Gamboa - yes he said that, should NOT be declining eliminator fights, title fights, and fighters who are not on Gamboa's pro level. Simple!
