It wasn't Salido it's basic ****, don't stick you're chin up, don't telegraph your punches, don't use the same combination all the time, think about what you're doing. Lopez has become a ****ty boxer but he has some of the heavy hands.
So you are saying Lopez lost solely on his mistakes? Salido had nothing to do with the way Lopez was broken down and stopped? Anyone could have stopped Lopez that night? LOL
So you think Lopez KOs Russell? If you haven't seen Lopez's tuneup fight between the two Salido fights watch it. He looked like utter **** in it.

That's what I'm saying. Unless Lopez gets a new trainer to completely fix him I don't give him a serious chance in this one. Russell has a great defense in my opinion that it would be very unlikely JuanMa would be able to slip in one of his punches to connect cleanly.

No of course Salido had something to do with it, it takes two to fight. Yes I'm saying Lopez lost 'cause of his huge, glaring mistakes and not because of Salidos greatness. I saw the Oliver fight and it validates my opinion of him. He's ridiculously heavyhanded for his weight but that's it. I think he has this bizarre notion of what boxing is about, he does nothing well except herpderp punch hard.

And no, my other post is saying no defense lopez gets kod.

Yeah reason I believe he is done being at the top. There are fighters like Garcia and Russell who have good defense as well as offense. But there is also tough fighters who are heavy handed themselves. So I don't see Lopez being successful against any world class or elite fighters at 126 and up. The only way he has a chance is if he got himself a whole new team that helped him work on his flaws. Perhaps he should talk to Cotto's trainer. He seems like a solid trainer.

Agreed. My bad if it seemed out of place but I see Lopez as having the tools but something is wrong with him. Maybe he just doesn't have the skills or the mind to pull it together.

I'm high on Garcia tho. My only criticism, and maybe it's just me, is he doesn't seem hungry at all. It's a weird feeling watching him fight. Like, he's thinking yeah, I'm champ fighting so what, imma beat this guy here and go get a nap.

No it's cool I was just trying to understand what your thoughts were on this fight.

Mikey Garcia? Yeah he is like Russell both are very cautious and don't look to be in shootouts or pushing for KOs. That would be their only downfall. That they are not crowd pleasing which then prevents them from getting huge fights like Gamboa or Broner where they look for fights that would raise their stock. And an easy way to raise your stock is to be in entertaining fights.

                  Agreed.

He should also seriously consider getting a new trainer.

He has developed some terrible habits & pretty much relies solely on his heavy hands nowadays.

One question about this kid, why did he turn down an elimination fight against Franco? the winner would had take on Dibbs for the IBF (I think) 126lbs Belt.

He did? When? There must have been a reason. Franco might have been one of those "too unknown" type of fights where risk/reward played into it.
