            Because the WBA is a joke. They have a super champion and then also a regular champion.

                I knew there were North American and Intercontinental belts, but aren't those just regional belts? Anyways, having 2 world champions in the same commission sounds pretty ******. Why go after the regular champion when you should be going after the Super Champion?

                    as someone else already said .. but to clear the air

                    Cotto was upgraded to WBA Super Champ at 154 (going into the Mayweather fight Cotto still was WBA Super Champ)

                    and Cotto being upgraded meant the regular WBA champ was vacant ... thus Trout's title of regular champ

                    basically the WBA's way to get more champions + sanctioning fees

                                I love unifications but anyone supporting this crap isn't a fan IMO, He should have fought Cano but was told to step aside for Morales with the promise that he gets the winner, After that everyone kept jumping into his spot with one reason and the other, surely there is a limit when we the fans have to say "Ok that isn't fair!"

                                Instead we are getting the "It's a unification" excuses.
