the truth of the matter is , Ortiz was fighting very cautios the last 3-4 rds because he was tagged frquently. it seems to me that he was looking for a way out.HBO made us listen to the conversation with the referee in between the last Rd's:
      Referee: What is the problem?
Ortiz: I got a broken jaw.
Referee: So you want to stop the fight?
Ortiz: Well, I got a broken jaw, yes.
Referee: (waving his hands over Ortiz) It's over !!!
Look now at the Hollywood act of Ortiz as he raise up from his stool and start to walk up as he wants to continue fighting and gently pushes his corner man to put in the mouth piece again...
The problem is not the Jaw but the heart and his mental issues.
Why putting up a fake hollywood act if he had a so called justified injury?
Answer: Ortiz is insecure and he himself knew that the injury was not severe in nature and he could have continued if he only wanted but he didnt like the way his opponent was punching back all the time

It isn't. People do far crazier things risking life and limb for a lot of money.
They wouldn't bother for 200 dollars. Look at all those crab fishermen and shark wranglers and crazy ass jobs people do because they pay well.

Ortiz value drops with this loss. So he goes from 2 mil or whatever to much less.

I agree no amount of money is worth physical damage but people don't always think that way. They think they will survive and get the money so they take the risk.

I personally wouldn't fight with a broken jaw, but if you asked someone if they would take 200k and quit or 2 million and keep going, I bet a lot of them would have tried to keep going.

I am explaining the mentalitiy, not condoning it.

Lopez for performance of the year, FOTY and Round of the year (take your pick in that one)
Don't get carried away. That still safely belongs to JuanMa Salido 2. Josesito will claim however the REAL upset of the year.

Lol at people acting like ortiz jaw was broken in the beginning of the fight. He misspoke, and corrected himself. It was broken in the 9th round. But lettuce just ignore that.

Didnt read article, but by jduging from the thread title, i dont see much wrong. He is just saying what many are now realizing. Ortiz is not a spirit fighter.

Victor Ortiz in a few words :
He does not have the intestinal fortitude to persevere through the tough situations necessary to succeed in the higher levels of the sport. He should consider himself lucky. With his mental approach, Canelo would destroy him.

I'm not being cruel. I know a broken jaw is no minor injury. But this is boxing. The sport requires coping with pain and other physical hardships. Timothy Bradley finished his fight with Manny Pacquiao with a fractured foot.

In addition, this is a consistent issue with Ortiz. When he's in tough fights, he fouls or quits. In this fight, he did both. Earlier in the fight, when Lopez was more than competitive, Ortiz blatantly punched him in the back of the head.

I think he was attempting to congratulate Lopez. Not continue fighting.

He was inviting Ortiz and Ortiz would decline. Happened more than once.

Let's not lose sight of that.

                    Dude fought his heart out.

LOL, at everyone getting butthurt for Josesito for saying what everyone already knows about Victor.

It's what happens when you punch a bully in his ****ing mouth. Ortiz has a bully mentality. Punch him in his ****ing mouth and he cowers in fear.

You could see it as the fight progressed. Ortiz did not want to exchange. He wanted to let off his shots, and if Josesito responded back, that ****er would get on his bike.

To me it seems as though Ortiz is much better mentally when he has a chip on his shoulder. You look at his performance in the Berto fight, he knew it was maybe his last big chance and he fought like it. But once they put that belt around his waist he got ****y again and lost his edge. He lost his cool against Floyd and paid the price. He though Lopez would quit once he felt his power but when he didn't he resorted to cheap shots and got what he deserved.
