simple, padded record. Boxing is about heart, taking on the best. You fight bums most of the time you get hate. His style of slapping doesn't help either.

Sure Calzaghe's resume isn't that great but he did retire undefeated with some solid wins like Hopkins, Kessler, Lacy, etc. I hated the way he clowned Roy in their fight but I don't know why he gets so much flak on NSB.

lacy isnt a solid win and he didnt beat hopkins. he did prove he was a good fighter against kessler and eubank in particular.

the reason he gets so much critisism is he never made proper use of his talent, he never took risks which makes his false undefeated record even less significant. the way he ducked fighters and held that paper title hostage choosing not to take any real challenges reflect everything bad with the sport, its arguably bcuz of fighters like calzaghe that boxing is in teh state that its in.

factor in his delusional fans on top of that.

Eubank was as shot as Jones!
His wins over Roy Jones & Eubank are about as meaningful as Berbick & Spinks wins over Ali.

Kessler was a good win over a prime, undefeated good fighter.

Lacy was a hypejob, real boxing fans knew this from his previous outings, I personally think it says more about how bad Lacy was than how great Joe was tbh
Casual fans didn't even know who the hell Lacy was they just thought he'd win because of his physique

Ward dominates Calzaghe imo. A Dawson fight is 50/50 imo.

Ward couldn't even dominate a wild Sakio Bika.

People dislike, or better yet, have a deficient of respect for Calzaghe due to his early Bute-like period of fighting bums in England.
He compounded the problem by ducking the elites (as Bute did) until they were old and less than past prime before he faced them.
Even then, with less than prime elites in front of him, Calazghe lost to Hopkins, and beat on an punch drunk Jones.
