    Who could beat Joan Guzman?

He seems to be an excellent fighter when hes at his right weight. Im wondering if there's anyone at all who can beat him at lightweight or JWW? Who do you think?

I think people still confuse Guzman as the Guzman of old where he was clowning fools with his gifted abilities before his lack of focus and weight issues. He's just not the same dude.

Although I don't like Rios that much I give him a clear shot of beating Guzman thoroughly...

The only thing that can beat Guzman is the scales.

He beats anybody at 140, anybody in that division including Marquez gets battered by Little Tyson.

when he makes weight...NOBODY AT 140 that is for sure!

even though he is older now, he still beat most of those OVERRATED FIGHTERS in that 140 Division

Abril clowned the piss out of Rios for 12 rounds and gave him a boxing lesson, and Guzman has 10X as much talent and technique as Abril does. Sorry, I just don't see Rios doing anything but wandering around aimlessly eating punches for 12 rounds.

Had Guzman not ****ed his career up by blowing up and failing on the scales, who knows what the boxing landscape would look like right now? He was being discussed by fight fans as a legit threat to Pacquiao back then, and the win over Soto and backing by HBO really seemed to be the jumping off point for his career. Then he failed to make weight and fell into obscurity for quite a while.

Now he's back and he's having the same problem now and he did then : Nobody wants to risk it fighting him.

But Abril was young and hungry Guzman's youth is slowly fading and he isn't as motivated to push himself for super stardom.

I don't dispute his gifted abilities in fact I think it would be a competitive fight between Guzman and Rios (though I don't like Rios very much) it would boil down to who would want it more and right now I just don't see it being Guzman...

Joan has lost some of his reflexes and he has cut down on his combination punching and has been looking to land perfect shots against these lower level guys he has been facing. He's not quite the same and his stamina has not been tested in a while either so I think the top competition around him is more on his level than you'd think...the others take their jobs seriously and are professionals, Joan has squander his talent and eventually that comes back to haunt. it definitely wasn't the case when he was prime, he was wayy ahead of them in most every category.

his style will still give fits to certain types of fighters but in close fights his lack of a consistent workrate these days will also make it hard for him to eek out decisions. id like to see Judah vs Guzman
