Arum wanted him to fight at the Cowboys' Stadium in July and presented him a list like Judah, Morales, Rios, Gesta, Alvarado, McCloskey. He declined them all. He prefers to fight bums.

He never wanted to fight an orthodox fighter so he did decline Morales, Rios, and Alvarado, but Judah priced himself out, Gesta's team (Top Rank and co.) never really wanted to throw the kid to the wolves, and McCloskey got dominated and stopped by Demarcus Corely. Except for the Morales fight, none of these fights draw 10000 people, so the Cowboys' Stadium idea Arum was promoting was hot air from the beginning.

If you've never seen the kid, there's no reason to call him a bum. He's not established; it wouldn't be the first or the last time a fighter that isn't established is better than advertised (Richard Abril for one).

I wouldn't say they ducked him; I would say they overlooked him. Marquez was not known and not so exciting back in his early days; therefore, Morales and Barrera never had an interest in fighting him. Another reason why I say they didn't duck him is because Barrera eventually fought him and Morales really wants to fight him now.... I will say one thing, though, I've always though that a primed Barrera and a primed Morales would have beat Marquez! Possibly even KO/TKO him.

A Marquez with even less wear and tear would still **** both Morales and Barrera.

Not sure where you guys get this info that he was boring before Pac. Marquez and his bro were at the Forum knocking dudes out left and right, especially Rafael making guys look like corpses.

And his first big fight was Freddie Norwood ya big dummy. Then Medina, then Smoke Gainer. Also beat Salido (in a stinker) before he was a champ.

Do Morales or Barrera have W's over any current champs?
