this fight is actually more competitive then a lot of people realize. Before it was automatic that Martinez simply destroys chavez.

Now, I still think Martinez wins clear (decision) but it's actually a pretty good matchup. Martinez does tend to take rounds off and chavez does apply good aggression and has, from what it seems, a very good chin. I can see chavez winning 3-4 rounds in a pretty tough fight, but martinez' speed and boxing ability + awkward angles giving him the decision. Maybe even a late stoppage depending on how well chavez holds up.

TS needs to clarify the pool, will the fight be in Texas with no drug tests and special gloves or in a credible state ?

      Credible state = Martinez UD
      Texas = Competitive fight

I registered on Boxingscene to ask about Martinez in 2009 after the Cintron fight.

I'mma still ride with Sergio by UD.

I believe the same... and I also believe many posters on NSB will be eating some delicious crow after the fight

Only way Martinez wins this fight is with a Drug Test.

the only thing that stopped lee from winning that fight was that he didn't have the power to stop chavez but martinez does

not only that he can hit you with shots you don't see coming which are the ones that knock you out

i think the fight will be more competative than i thought it would be when the matchup was first mentioned still Martinez is a class above Chavez and he hasn't shown me that he is deteriorating enough for a young Chavez to beat him

Martinez by wide UD but Chavez will certainly make it interesting im sure

2 years ago I would have fell down laughing at the thought of chavez beating Martinez.

Chavez stops martinez by the end of the 9th.

Martinez will light him up early but no way he keeps that bull off him. Sergio can be hit and the way chavez jr is ripping those body shots mixed in with the sharp hooks upstairs.......goodnight sergio

Martinez is a better boxer but chavez is too big for him. Chavez jr isn't the pampered rich kid he was portrayed as. The kid is turning into a warrior

Martinez has at least 10 times more mobility than Andy Lee and I don't even see Jr constantly landing body shots on him.

From a technical standpoint, Jr has a poor reaction time and is wide open for counters. Sergio eats that alive. Jr isn't bad, but this is a terrible fight for him. He needs opponents that will stand in front of him because he has some power.

                      1. this has nothing to do with andy lee

                      2. Martinez is no defensive specialist

                      3. Chavez will land those shots on anyone in the divsion because of 4

                      4. Physically chavez is way too big for sergio. Chavez has a legit chin. Martinez will slow down naturally during the fight and as soon as he see's chavez walk through his shots he'll mentally fatigue.

The thing that changed my mind on jr is his toughness. At some point in each fight he breaks his opponents will. It's a scary feeling when you land on your opponent and he just keeps coming. That to me is very impressive.
