Probably because it's a hard tactic against HBO to have them pay more for the Canelo/Ortiz winner vs Mayweather fight. It's like when your gf leaves you, you suddenly want her back more knowing someone else may court her ; )

Because in the end it all comes down to money... so just follow the money. the real bread winner fight would be against Mayweather and this is a prelude to it.. also a negotiation period.
