Oh I am so sorry did I hurt everyone's feelings? Did I cause everyone to actually think about something other than freedom or grown men do what they want, did I get some of you to think about something called responsibility.

I can't believe the simpletons on this site. Who have the ability to have their feelings hurt like that of a 12 yr old girl.
Everyone wants to rave on about freedom to do what they want. Which is quite obtuse. If anyone who has responded to this thread with the answer of freedom. Talk about simplistic. Do you really think that this is about freedom. Well guess what people do have the right to do what they like, but their decisions when they go bad do not simply stay within. I recall Goossen, Williams promoter say, he does not even know if Paul has health insurance. Well guess what all those whose response is "freedom" or grown men do what they want to do, since it is very likely Paul does not have health insurance who do you think is going to pay for his healthcare? Now Paul has made some money, but I highly doubt its enough to pay for a lifetime of care which is what he will need. So where does your freedom response fit into this part of Paul's new reality. Since Paul chose to ride his bike in a reckless manner then should society not take any responsibility for taking care of his medical bills or his kids?

Poeple's actions effect others no matter if we have free choice or not or whether we think we are grown men and we can do what we want. There is one thing no one wants to get near in discussing and that is responsibility. Yes, we can choose to do what we want to do, but should we not take into account our responsibilities to others before we exercise our freedom to do whatever the hell we want to? Should Paul have thought about his responsibility to his children before he decided to get on that bike in the condition he was in? Should he have taken into account his responsibility to his promoter, manager, fans? Or do our decisions exist in a vacuum?

I am just living in a pragmatic world. Either no one wants to admit that being a man means more than doing whatever the hell you want to do or no one wants to admit that being a man is about responsibility. And frankly seeing what happened to Williams and Corrales, what they did was irresponsible and not grown up at all. Hell Corrales family could not even afford to pay for his funeral and now his kids have no father.

I am sorry but you can say that a grown man does what he wants to because we live in a free country, but when **** goes wrong, society has to come to the rescue and pay for it all. So freedom is not free because someone always has to pick up the bill.

I just do not understand the limited amount of thinking that goes into some of these opinions. Like I said I am not kicking him while he is down, nor am I saying Paul should be more miserable, frankly I do not know where in my post I even suggest that.

life is too short to not do what you love. I can relate with paul because driving is one of the few things in life that makes me feel alive. If I die doing it, i'll be fine.

Worry about your own life TS, Paul Williams isn't worrying about yours.

Nobody is more disappointed at Paul Williams than Paul Williams.

Boxing fans should just make him feel better about himself. Not tell him how angry they are that can no longer see him fighting anymore. He knows this, he's angry at himself but is staying positive about the situation which is very difficult to do.

          let's get this straight:

paul williams is not making a "full recovery". he's never fighting again. he'd be blessed and it would be a miracle if the man ever walks under his own power.

you are pissed off at him? what happened to paul williams is a tragedy. it's nothing to hate him for.

But you fail to see that dying is not the only option, you could end of paralyzed like Paul or worse. Let me ask u a question, do you have a family, wife or kids? What happens if you end up in a condition like WIlliams? Do you have all the money that it would take to care for you? If not who do you expect to pay for your care if something went wrong? Should society pay for your healthcare because you made a decision to participate in a highly risky hobby?

If you have a family and you are paralyzed and unable to support your family who should take up the slack? Should society help pay for your children's roof over their heads? Should society help put food in your families mouth because you made a decision to partake in high risk behavior?

So just answer these two questions should society have to pay for your mistakes?

I don't hate him I am angry at him for the choice he made. if anything my anger shows that I give a damn. I am not pissed because he can't fight again, its more important than that. Tragedy yes, but a preventable tragedy. My point is before people indulge in risky endeavors that should think about those they have a responsibility to. And if they still choose to participate in dangerous behavior they should not expect society to pick up the bill.

not really. accidents can happen. you get on a bike, car, plane or train, anything can happen. his promoter might be wishing he didnt have a bike tho.

He was going to fast. And under Bad Conditions they say! Bikes are a dangerous auto to be on. Going fast in traffic makes it even more dangerous. Hes paying for it now. I feel bad for him. But in the same note i think he was a idiot for chancing his life like Deigo Corralas did. Hes a great guy. Ive met him personally before and hes just an all around good person. He took a gamble and loss! Sad ending. Yes im pissed. But who am I and whats it matter now! Im pissed that a great person got got up in lifes misfortunes. I feel for him and his family !
