top 5 lightweights of all time is pushing it because he never really fought anyone dangerous, but i would list him as top 20 lightweight based on potential alone.
Probably because his opposition was vastly vastly better.

Mosley only looked so dominant because his opposition was so pityful.

I mean, if he fought every ranked contender he would still have dominated most of them. But, he only fought like 1 or 2 ranked fighters. What do you expect?

The only legit fighter he fought was Philip Holiday and he looked distinctly worse in that fight compared to all his fights at 135. That's no coincidence.

Mosley at 147 was awesome. And you're right, the only reason he looked worse was because he fought the best fighters there.

At 154, he's never looked good. Pretty much ever, 154 was just too high for him I guess.

But yeah, his Lightweight reign was awful. Really bad.
I still think Mosley was a terrific fighter at 135, I just don't see this sizable drop in performance once he moved up.

He looked sensational in some fights at 135, like Johnson and Ceballos. Is anyone gonna say he also didn't look sensational at 147 against De La Hoya (FAR better than anyone he had faced at that point), or against Diaz and Taylor?

        Oh yeah, he was awesome.

He'd be a handful for a lot of great Lightweights.

But, his accomplishments there are terrible. Extremely weak resume at the weight.

He did look sensational but the opposition was extremely underwhelming. His best opponent was probably Holiday and he didn't look too hot in that fight. I remember Eduardo Morales caught him in the first with a mean left hook which sorta told me that as great as his offense was, his defense wasn't as solid as advertised. But yeah, he looked awesome, no question. Wish that fight between he and Floyd occurred then.
