If this fight really takes place I can only hope Vitali won't win the elections in October and we'll get to see one more, better opponent for him.
Agreed. Vitaly has always been classy, but this is a cherry pick to ensure he doesn't lose before he retires. Shame on him.

Charr (21-0, age 27) is ranked #11 by the WBO. This would be Vitali's farewell fight. He'll turn 41 in July and has looked somewhat faded (but still very good) in recent fights.

Although unknown in the US, Charr is actually better-known and more popular in Germany than the other WBC-ranked HWs. Although a few others (Wach, Pulev) might make for a more competitive fight, considering Vitali's age Charr is an acceptable opponent. And the poll results on German websites (for example, check the above link) indicate most fans over there want to see Charr-Vitali. And let's be honest here, no matter WHO Vitali fights, some people who don't like him will criticize him for it.

It will be interesting to see who the WBC will have fight for the vacant HW title after Vitali retires.
this fight will do good in germany. i would have rather seen pulev, wach or stiverne fight vitali instead of charr. if he wants a good payday then take the charr fight in germany. too bad helenius is hurt.

I really don't see why Vitali wouldn't fight a few more times? Unless he's elected to office, he's still good enough to beat anyone out there.

I would like to see him take on Stiverne and Wach.

All the young guys like Fury, Boystov, Wilder, ect. are moving their careers slowly in hopes that the Klitschkos retire or are really faded by the time they're ready for their shot. I would like to see the Klitschkos wipe all those guys out.

His last fight should be against Wlad to decide the best HW in the world.
