    Agreed but

According to Chepo Reynoso, manager of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (40-0-1, 29KOs), two potential opponents for his boxer's next fight are Austin Trout and James Kirkland. Canelo is scheduled to return on September 15th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

All Trout has to do is win tomorrow night

TBH I rather have that on PPV than take a chunk out of HBO budget. HBO can save their money and make better fights like a Pirog-Golovkin, Froch-Kessler II and whatever.

Let that be the PPV...And, lets be honest do P-Will or Kirkland bring more PPV buys than what a Quintana could bring. If they sell the Mexican-Puerto Rican rivalry for the Mexico next big thing on Mexican Independence Day? I don't think so...No doubt P-Will and Kirkland are bigger threats and better fighters. But, can you sell it and promote it? Quintana having that "showcase" on the biggest PPV of the year..

      Can be sold and promoted.

I honestly was going to buy the Canelo-Williams PPV.

I was going to watch Canelo-Kirkland on a stream.

I will not watch Canelo-Quintana at all.

Kirkland said he couldn't make the Sept date to begin with.

GBP should have just extended the Kirk-Canelo fight to October during the Mexican holiday in that month to begin with.

I don't know why they tried to make an injured Kirkland fight Canelo in Sept when he already said he was injured.

Who knows, maybe that was a part of their original game plan; Fight a hurt fighter.

True but HBO's budget should be able to sustain a Canelo/Quintana. I think they actually spend more by producing a 24/7 which they will surely need to. QUintana is not really a well known "puerto rican".

Caros Quintana should NEVER EVER EVER be in the headlining fight of a PPV. I think Kev is right, its very hard to get me to purchase that fight.

I would wait until the Trout-Rodriguez fight now, the winner of that fight would probably be a better option than Lara.

The winner of Bundrage-Spinks could also work but that would cost them a month of waiting and that is not likely to be a scintillating fight, but whoever won would be an easy mark for Canelo.

There is always Vanes, if Top Rank is willing to contract him out~

Personally I would have bought BOTH Canelo-P-Will or Kirkland. I will not buy Canelo-Quintana.

But, they don't care if you and I will buy it...They care if they can sell it to the casuals to have them buy it...Have the Puerto Ricans buy it cuz' of the rivalry, have the Mexicans buy it cuz' of the rivalry.

And, does Quintana bring in more PPV's than Lara or Trout or whoever not named Cottto obviously? No, probably not. But, the selling point of the traditional rivalry to the casuals without that risk that Lara or Trout would bring.

Lets look who they chose...P-Will, in what they probably thought was a very faded fighter, Kirkland coming off an injury had lackluster performance beforehand. Yea both could be a step up...But, like Reed said maybe not after the fact. Quintana isn't a step up but he is coming off a KO victory in what I assume plenty of saw and it's not a risk.

Mexican Independence Day is in September...GBP for the last decade has had dibs for that date for their PPV fights. Just one year didn't have a PPV fight cuz' because someone got injured I forgot how...Plus Top Rank has dibs for the PPV in October for Chavez jr. possibly against Martinez....Yea I know...

I hate the politics in boxing either he offers the fight to Lara or ill lose every shred of respect i have for the man.

Mexican Revolution Day is in November. This is the holiday I was talking about.

Have they sold tickets yet? If not, all is not lost and the fight can still be made in November.

Listen, if they can feed us Canelo-Mosley, they will have no problem feeding us Canelo-Kirkland in November.

But still, why try to fight an injured Kirkland in the first place?
