jogging helps you get used to constant activity for a sustained period of time and helps you control your breathing and heart rate. You recover after a round much better and faster if you jog routinely.
Ideally, you should mix up the two...have 2 running days per week add 1 HIIT day. The next week, have 2 HIIT training days and one running day.
I have noticed that I have maintained much more muscle, developed muscle even while doing the HIIT Tabata Protocol, plus I lost almost 20 pounds with little to no jogging. Once you get down to a certain body fat %, add in the jogging - like 5 miles a day, a couple days a week. That way you'll maximize muscle mass and strength while developing speed because of the intense, explosive exercises you have been doing.
Just my two cents anyways. Not jogging at all isn't going to help a fighter last 12 rounds.

Throwing a punch, or a combination in boxing is an anaerobic movement. The bouncing around, head movement, and footwork is aerobic. For fighters like Khan who throw the quick combos throughout a fight they are likely being gassed by the end of the fight from the combinations, to improve his stamina for that would be to do anaerobic exercises.

He can last 12 rounds at full steam, he does a lot of jogging and you can tell. He also does a great deal of HIIT stuff. That's how he does it....

And it will all payoff on June 9th.
Nothing against Khan, but I don't think he has what it takes to be a true champion. Not a paper champ, a true p4p king.
