Rocky has probably done more for boxing than 90% of the actual fighters inducted, and I'm actually serious about that.

Rocky actually got me into boxing to begin with. And i could see that being the case with a lot of kids born in the 70's and 80's.
Same here, Rocky movies and an old tape of Ali-Frazier 3 are what got me interested in the sport. Then I saw a Roy Jones fight, and it was all over for me.

Rocky 1 is still a very good story even though the boxing choreography is horrible (as almost all fightscenes are, especially boxing).

The best film of the boxing genre would be Raging Bull by far. It's one of my 3 favorite movies of all time and Scorseses second best.

But oh well. Bottom line is Stallone is not competing with fighters for his spot. So everyone (not sure who in this thread, but it always get brought up) claiming "well if Stallone got in..." should just drop it.

Raging Bull is probably my favorite movie.

        Scorsese's Top 5:
        1. Raging Bull
        2. Goodfellas
        3. The Departed
        4. Casino
        5. Taxi Driver

Goodfellas #1, Raging Bull #2 and remove the departed from the list and i agree. Possibly put mean streets in but I'm not sure.

This is offtopic though. Sorry for that boys.

Also not wanting to get completely off topic, I'll just say that I would have Taxi Driver much higher.

The Departed was great. Mean Streets was good, but Taxi Driver really made Scorsese and set him up for everything else that he did. Mean Streets is just outside the Top 5 to me, same with Gangs of New York.

Yeah we're getting way off topic here.

Okay wins against Ishida, Mitchell, Walter Matthysse.

If i'm not mistaken he's a 2 time champion at WW, interim champion at 154 if you want to count that, and at one point was calling every one out from 147-160 and was willing to fight them at their weight class.

As a big fan, I would say he's borderline HOF. I think Williams at age 30 was not done, and I think he would have ended up adding Canelo and 3-4 other names on his resume and have a sure HOF resume. Being a borderline HOF'er at age 30, you were pretty damn good then.
I have a career tribute piece coming up on him. really enjoyed his career. I don't think he meets the threshold for the Hall of Fame. I wouldn't personally vote for him and I don't think most other voters will either.

Since you're here crold, i may as well ask.

Most posters seem to think Froch is a lock for getting in to the hall of fame. Do you agree?

( i don't think he's there yet, but lots of posters i really respect do, which is why i question my own stance on it)

No. I LOVE the run he's on and he is on track for sure but Eubank and Benn aren't even on the ballot so why would I think Froch is a lock? Let's see how it all ends up. If he can get by Kess, and I think that's the fight coming, and Dawson beats Ward (certainly possible), LOVE to see Froch-Dawson. He has plenty of room to burnish his creds.

I'm sad of what happened but no he should not get in.martinez win was controversial also, winky was way over the hill when williams fought him, quintana beat him easily in the first fight, margarito was good win but I don't feel too highly on him,and what can you say about cintron fight
