While i agree with the thread topic, it kind of seems like the ts is a little off when he mentions mayweather and ward. Ward is proven but yes i do agree that he does need to keep verifying it which is why he is about to fight chad dawson. So i dont understand why he was mentioned. You've responded with floyds name a few times in responses so i'll touch on that. Like it or not floyd proved it again by just going up in weight again with no catch weights to fight at 154( a weight he has only fought in once 5 yrs ago) and took the #1 jmw's belt.
In floyd's last two fights he has dethroned two champs and would have been 3 had he decided to pay sanction fees for mosleys belt. All of them have been in the top 3 (not five) for that weight class or in the world. Mosley- #1ww at the time if im not mistaken and #3 p4p, Ortiz - #2 WW, Cotto #1 jmw. He doesnt rank these ppl but he is damn sure beating them. Is that not what a proven fighter is supposed to do to keep verifying his status? Beat the highest ranked fighters in his division constantly? Should he fight the #9 or 10 guy or fight the non ranked guys because you think they're "prime" and could beat him? Floyd Mayweather has been in, at, or near the top of every p4p list since 1998 and he started pro in 97 (by comparison pacquiao didnt get there till 2003 and started a year before mayweather did)
You seem to put a lot of emphasis on prime hof's, but How many guys at 147- 154 are prime HOF's right now that floyd could fight? Is that his fault? How is he to kno who is Prime, Hof worthy, and is sure fire goin in there soon? There is probably a good chance that Chico, Hatton, Castillo, maybe getting in there one day will that verify Mayweather for you? All of them were prime when they got spanked. Maybe Ortiz will get in there in the future, will that mean that a past prime mayweather beat a prime hof ortiz, or will it mean that ortiz was just green? To me its kinda hard to verify somebody's greatness through hof opponents because you never really kno who's going to the hof until they retire or reach the status that mayweather himself is at now. Mayweather has fought and beaten the #1 ranked fighter in every division he has been in (not sure about 140 at the time) and he's made most of them look easy.
through all the duck talk and scared talk, there is a reason why Mayweather and Ward are ranked so highly and other undeafeated fighters like chavez jr are not. Think about it for a moment.
